IRS guidance indicates that taxpayers are not required to attach the Manufacturer's Certification Statement to their tax returns. Taxpayers should retain this certification as part of their tax records.

The American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012 amends the Internal Revenue Code by extending tax credits for energy-efficient windows and doors through 2013.
Homeowners may receive an annual tax credit for 10% of the cost of products (not including installation), with a maximum of $200 for windows and $500 for doors.
